HE Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has received His Excellency Tang Wei, Consul General of the Peoples’ Republic of China in Dubai. During the meeting, they discussed prospects of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise between the RTA and its counterpart in China, besides collaborating with other Chinese entities and companies operating in the rail industry and road projects.
At the outset of the meeting, HE Mattar Al Tayer welcomed the Consul General of China, and briefed him on the projects that the RTA intends to implement in the near future, including the expansion of road networks & crossings at the Dubai Creek, and Business Bay Canal Expansion Project among other transport projects. The Consul was also apprised of RTA’s plan to bolster partnership with the private sector in carrying out some RTA projects in future.
Al Tayer expressed his hope to boost the strategic partnership & cooperation between the RTA and the Chinese firms and factories specialized in roads & rail projects, especially in the light of the mega projects planned by the RTA.
For his part, His Excellency Tang Wei, expressed his extreme admiration of the extensive upswing and impressive infrastructure witnessed by the UAE, and hailed the high-quality road network, public transport system and the unique urbanization patterns of Dubai.
He added that the close ties between the UAE and the Peoples Republic of China had resulted in an increase in the volume of trade & investment between the two countries, and a rise in the number of Chinese tourists visiting the UAE in as much as 300,000 persons, which he hoped would continue its upward trend, given the direct flights between the UAE and a number of main Chinese cities.
