Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid dies of heart attack aged 65: company



    Miami: Iraqi-British architect Dame Zaha Hadid has died of a heart attack on Thursday.

    2bHadid, 65, was a world-renowned architect whose designs include the London Olympic Aquatics Stadium, Guangzhou Opera House,  MAXXI Museum in Rome and the Shaikh Zayed Bridge in Abu Dhabi.

    The British designer, who was born in Iraq, had a heart attack on Thursday while in hospital in Miami, where she was being treated for bronchitis, according to The Guardian.

    Hadid’s buildings have been commissioned around the world and she was the first woman to receive the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal.

    Admirers of Zaha Hadid immediately flooded the social media with tributes and outpouring of grief and condolences. Her website, crashed briefly on Thursday. More info
