RTA promotes the culture of visiting museums

The National Identity Team of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently kick-started a program of field visits to museums to inspire the cultural concerns and enhance the national identity of RTA employees. The move is being coordinated with various schools in Dubai where youngsters are involved in these visits through the year.

Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of Marketing & Corporate Communication, and Head of National Identity Team of the RTA, said: “The RTA attaches high priority to fostering the national culture and heritage among various generations, which is why we are always keen on staging several initiatives in this regard. This program includes field visits, involving youngsters, to various museums across the UAE; a move which also epitomizes the effective cooperation and interaction between the RTA and other community organizations.

“We initiated our field visits by a visit to the Dubai Museum, in cooperation with Drivers Licensing Dep’t, with the participation of the Al-Fadheela Nursery kids in a bid to give them early education about the values of love to the nation, and familiarize them with its rich civilized legacy.

“The selection of museums as a prime destination in the visits program is attributed to their rich & genuine cultural endowments that every community member ought to know, and grasp knowledge about the professions & traditional life patterns of our ancestors in the Emirate of Dubai. This is particularly relevant as the Museum contains artifacts, antiques, and handworks from various countries that had trading links with Dubai in the past,” added the Director of RTA Marketing & Corporate Communication.

The Museum also exhibits lifestyles in Dubai in the pre-oil discovery era, along with antiquities that date back to more than 3000 years BC. “These cultural contents are worthy of being known, cherished and protected by everyone as they depict the genuine culture & traditions of the UAE,” said Dr. Aysha in a concluding remark.
