RTA’s Licensing Agency announced a major increase to its service network through the use of Trusted Agents. The Licensing Agency approved 4 optician companies who provide driver’s license eye tests to also renew the driver’s license at the same time, if clients wish. The license renewal now takes only minutes to complete.

Barakat Optical, Grand Optics, Magrabi Optical and Yateem Optician are approved to renew a driver’s license. These companies provide over 50 sites in Dubai where clients can renew their driver’s license when they have their eye sight tested.

Sultan Al Marzouqi, Director of Drivers Licensing said, to renew a license an eye test is required. It makes sense to use a Trusted Agent-Optician to have the license renewed at the same time, so there is no need to visit RTA.

“Other opticians continue to provide eye tests for driver’s licenses but they cannot renew a driver’s license. In this case people would still need to go to RTA for their license,” he added.

“In 2010, the RTA established a Trusted Agent-Insurer network who provide vehicle insurance and are approved to renew vehicle registrations. Recently the number of Insurers approved to renew a vehicle registration was expanded to 9 insurers,” continued Al Marzouqi.

Now, over 250,000 clients purchase vehicle insurance from these Trusted Agent-Insurers and can now have their vehicle registration renewed at the same time. Approving Opticians for license renewal builds on this same model making Trusted Agents the fastest service channel for RTA’s business.

He reaffirmed that here are no extra charges for using a Trusted Agent for RTA services regardless of whether it is renewing a vehicle registration or a driver’s license.
