The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is all set to open tomorrow, Friday, seven new metro stations; namely: Emirates, Airport Terminal 1, Al Karama, Emirates Towers, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Marina, and Ibn Battuta stations.
Mattar Al Tayer, RTA chairman, said: “The consortium undertaking Dubai Metro project is set to complete work on the remaining 18 stations on the Red Line on April 25, 2010 and seven stations — Emirates, Airport Terminal 1, Al Karama, Emirates Towers, Dubai Internet City, Marina and Ibn Battuta — will be opened on April 30, 2010.
The stations will not take passengers until April 30 because a dozen new trains are set to launch at the same time and require a few more days of testing, said Peyman Younes Parham, director of the RTA’s corporate marketing and communications department.
Seven of the remaining 18 incomplete Metro stations will open on April 25, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced yesterday. By then, construction will be complete on all 29 stations on the Red Line. However, of the near-finished stations, only Emirates, Airport Terminal 1, GGICO, Al Karama, World Trade Centre, Marina and Ibn Battuta will be ready for passengers.
