The Dubai Water Canal project linking Business Bay with the Arabian Gulf is more than halfway completed.
Traffic on Shaikh Zayed Road heading towards Jebel Ali will face a kilometre-long diversion from October 25, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said. This diversion, between Business Bay Metro station and interchange two, is to enable the construction of a 16-lane flyover near interchange two.
At the start of the meeting, Al Tayer thanked the Dubai Municipality, headed by its Director General H.E. Hussain Lootah, for the great cooperation and coordination with the RTA in various fields relating to the business of the two civic bodies. Al Tayer indicated that such coordination resulted in streamlining several procedures as regards the processing of customers transactions in a smooth environment.
The Roads and Transport Authority is to divide the Dhs2 billion Dubai Canal project into three contracts because of the "enormity" of the scheme. Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the board and executive director of the RTA, discussed the issue at the inauguration on Wednesday.
