With the advent of Eid Al Adha, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced revised timings of services during Eid holiday. Metro: From Eid’s first day up to Thursday (Nov.10), Metro stations will receive commuters from 5.50am up to 1am, and on Friday from 1pm up to 1am.
Well, not quite. But many commuters did a double take when they found eggs seemingly sizzling in the summer heat on car hoods in Dubai Media City, Internet City and Deira. The sunny-side-up culprits, printed on palm-sized cards and mounted on magnets, were part of a Dubai Metro advertising campaign to get people out of their cars and onto the Metro. The small lettering on the egg white read: “It’s a cool 20°C on the Metro”.
Huge rush of commuters were seen at most of the new stations. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) officials, including Adnan Al Hammadi, Acting CEO of Rail Agency, and Ramadan Abdullah, Director of Operations, were visiting stations to ensure smooth launching of the new stations.
The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is all set to open tomorrow, Friday, seven new metro stations; namely: Emirates, Airport Terminal 1, Al Karama, Emirates Towers, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Marina, and Ibn Battuta stations.
