UAE combats coronavirus: Dubai to reactivate paid parking tomorrow; metro, buses to resume

Dubai’s Metro, bus and taxi services will be restored starting tomorrow. Additionally, paid parking will also be reactivated across the emirate.

This comes following the decision of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management to partially reduce controls on movement in the emirate. Here is all you need to know.

What are the paid parking timings during Ramadan?

From April 26, public parking will be a paid service from 8am to 6pm and from 8pm until 12 midnight.

Which public transport means will be restored? Will the fares be any different?

Dubai Metro and public buses will operate from April 26 at normal fares.

What kind of precautionary measures will riders have to observe?

Riders will need to wear face masks and maintain physical distance from others.  

Public transport services, including Dubai metro services, will be resumed from Sunday 26 April. The normal tariff system will be reintroduced. Precautionary measures will continue to be followed and there will be specific guidelines for passengers.

What about taxis?

The ongoing protective health measures for taxi rides will continue to be in place. These include limiting the number of riders to two at the back seat and maintaining isolators between the driver and passengers.A

What are the timings for the Dubai Metro?

Saturday to Thursday: 7am to 11pm

Friday: 10am to 11pm  

What are the timings for public buses?

They will operate as per their usual schedules from 6am to 10pm.  

Won’t there be any buses from 10pm?

A total of 13 bus routes (8, 10, 12, A13, 17, 24, C01, C07, F18, F21, F34, F43 and X23) will be offering services at a frequency of 30 minutes from 10pm to 6am. These routes will serve 19 public and private hospitals: Rashid Hospital in Oud Metha, Iranian Hospital in Al Wasl, Zulekha Hospital in Al Qusais; Dubai Hospital on Al Khaleej Road, Deira; Baraha Hospital in Al Baraha, Deira; Latifa Hospital in Al Jadaf NMC Hospital in Al Qusais; American Hospital in Oud Metha; and the Saudi German Hospital in Al Barsha. Additionally,  the routes will serve several hospitals in Healthcare City, including Emirates Specialty Hospital, Dubai Dental Hospital, BR Medical Suites, Sapphire Day Surgery Centre, American Heart Center, Dr Riadh Hospital, Emirates Integra Medical & Surgery Centre, Mediclinic City Hospital and Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital.
