Dubai: Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) residents have been urged to pool cars, use the Metro or stagger their work hours to ease traffic congestion in the area.

The master developer DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) dashed an email to residents listing these suggestions following a massive tailback on Monday evening.

The email read: “We have been advised that there will be several road diversions in JLT as the RTA road networks are nearing completion… it is likely that the congestion will continue in the coming days. We therefore suggest, wherever possible, motorists consider making alternate arrangements when travelling to and from JLT.”

The email then goes on to list several suggestions. They include staggered work hours, using the Metro, car pooling, avoiding peak hour traffic.

Those coming to the area have also been advised to leave their cars at the Nakheel Harbour station and use the free golf cart service to enter the community.

But the suggestions have not gone down too well with residents. “It’s impractical. What shall I tell my boss? That he should change my work hours?” asked a senior sales executive. More info
