Time Out has information and pictures as, for the first time, water flows through Dubai Water Canal extension from Business Bay to Arabian Gulf
Water has been released in the Dubai Water Canal for the first time.
This is the most significant development in the three-year project, that has seen three new bridges open and a path dug from Business Bay to the Arabian Gulf.
The first flow is part of a testing process, with more and more to slowly make its way into the 3km stretch over the coming weeks. When full – expected around the middle of November – the water will be six metres deep.
At full operation, boats and other water transport will be able to work their way from the original mouth of the Creek all the way through the city and back out at what was once Jumeirah Beach Park. More info and photos
