Good demand for Dubai bond
Dubai's latest foray into the global debt market has prompted a good response, and final pricing on the dollar-denominated Eurobond issue may take place as early as today, people familiar with the situation said. "The emirate has delivered on its promises. Examples are the successful restructuring of Dubai World debt, the opening of Al Maktoum International Airport, and the continuing expansion of Dubai Metro," he said.
Dubai tram system to be delayed two years
Dubai’s prospective tramway system has been delayed by two years to 2014 due to the economic downturn, according to the Road Transport Authority (RTA). Abdul Redha Abu Al-Hassan, director of rail planning & development at the government body, said in a conference in Abu Dhabi yesterday that the slump in the construction market caused the RTA to “re-plan our projects again”.

RTA launches DAST Portal
The Higher Organizing Committee of the Dubai Award for Sustained Transport (DAST) has recently launched a webpage posted as a link on the website of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in a bid to promote DAST online. The move is part of a new strategy pursued by the Committee to present the 3rd edition of the Awards in a way outshining the previous two editions, and showcase the e-services offered by the RTA in keeping with the Dubai eGovernment drive.
RTA opens five new metro stations mid-October
RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director confirmed that the new stations were ready to receive passengers. “22 trains will be deployed during peak time and 16 trains will be in operation during off-peak time, and the service frequency (headway) will be 6 minutes during peak time and 8 minutes during off-peak time. RTA has carried out site surveys covering the neighbourhood of all stations to be opened shortly and accordingly opened new bus routes to feed the metro stations. 28 buses are being deployed to link the metro stations with the surrounding areas and the service is set to run at 13-20 minutes frequency,” he elaborated.

Tests have been conducted and staff deployed at the five new Metro stations set to open in mid-October, a senior Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official said. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA said: "Five more stations are ready to receive passengers by middle of October."
