GCC eyeing $170bn transport move over 10-15 years
Transport projects worth $170bn are expected to be put in place in the GCC region over the next 10-15 years, an industry expert has said. About 85 percent of the investment is seen being made in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar while $108bn of it is set to be spent on rail projects.

SMRT to stop operating, maintaining Palm Monorail in Dubai from Aug 5
Transport operator SMRT said it will stop operating and maintaining the Palm Monorail in Dubai from August 5. This follows the termination of the contract to do so by Dubai-based real estate developer Nakheel.
Doha Metro tenders to be issued by mid 2011
Engineering contractors expect Doha to issue construction tenders for the Red line of the Qatari capital's metro network by the middle of 2011. They said that the Red line will be the Phase I of the Doha metro and the first part of the country's USD 25 billion rail development program.
