Mohammed Al Mudharreb, Director of Unified Automated Fare Collection Department (UAFC) at Corporate Technical Support Services Sector of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the total number of unified cards (Nol Cards) sold since the initial offering on 22 August till the end of December 2009 totaled about 1.2 million Nol Silver Cards.

Approximately 1.2 million Silver Nol cards were sold between August 22 and December 31, 2009, the RTA revealed in a press statement. The number of transactions, dating from the time of the official launch to the end of the year, exceeded 48 million.

I’d like to thank the RTA for the wonderful Metro service. It has really made a big difference in my commute. Free feeder buses, a staff which I’ve always found to be extremely helpful, and a safe and clean environment – riding the metro has been a pleasure and a joy.
