Mohammed Al Mudharreb, Director of Unified Automated Fare Collection Department (UAFC) at Corporate Technical Support Services Sector of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the total number of unified cards (Nol Cards) sold since the initial offering on 22 August till the end of December 2009 totaled about 1.2 million Nol Silver Cards.

H.E. Mattar al-Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), recently received H.E. Datuk Yahaya Abdul Jabar, the Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE, in the presence of H.E. Mohammed Hasrin Aidid. The visit comes in the context of RTA efforts to build and boost the ongoing cooperative relations at the local, regional and international levels.

Approximately 1.2 million Silver Nol cards were sold between August 22 and December 31, 2009, the RTA revealed in a press statement. The number of transactions, dating from the time of the official launch to the end of the year, exceeded 48 million.

While most shares declined in Tokyo, news reports that Dubai's government has allocated 18.3 billion dirhams ($5 billion) to help keep Dubai World afloat while it sorts out issues with creditors, sent shares of several engineering companies involved in the building of the Dubai Metro surging.

Cairo-based Mobiserve just announced that Dubai’s WiMax metro network has been completed and implemented. Commuters will have internet access on all Wi-Fi enabled devices including smartphones and laptops, with average broadband speeds at stations reaching 4Mbps and backhaul speed onboard trains reaching 2Mbps.

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the Contractor of Dubai Metro Project; Dubai Rail Link (DURL) Consortium; is set to complete all the remaining works in the stations on the Red Line (18 stations) on 25 April 2010, and that all works in the stations on the Green Line will be completed in August 2011.

Dubai Metro had lifted 9,872,545 passengers from the date it was launched on 9 September 2009 to 9 February 2010 through 11 stations on the Red Line, according to a statistic recently compiled by Rail Agency of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Implementation of Dubai Metro's WiMAX network that offers commuters internet connectivity on-board trains is now complete, says Cairo-based Mobiserve.

Construction of all the Metro’s red line stations will be completed by April 25.But many will only open some “months” after that date. Why? Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Saturday that work on all the remaining 18 stations on the Dubai Metro’s Red Line will be complete by April 25 2010.
