Al Tayer receives Singaporean Consul

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has recently received H.E. Cheong Ming Foong, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Dubai. The visit was made in the context of RTA efforts to boost the ongoing cooperative relationships with various entities at the local, regional and international levels.

During the meeting, which was attended by RTA Board Member & Chair of Customers Council Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, and the Director of Marketing & Corporate Communication Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, the two parties explored ways & means of bolstering their mutual cooperation, exchanging of expertise between the RTA in its counterparts in Singapore as well as Singaporean firms operating in rail, roads & transportation sectors, besides exploring the forthcoming road & infrastructure projects in Dubai.

During the meeting, Al Tayer hailed the Singaporean model in upgrading the transport infrastructure, undertaking quality projects featuring state-of-the-art transit systems, and opting for public transport as an ideal choice for the mobility of peoples. “The RTA has good working relationships with the Singaporean entities and has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Land Transport Authority in the Republic of Singapore. The MoU calls for the two parties to boost their strategic partnerships, share expertise as regards the international trends of transport activities, and enhance their cooperative and friendly relations. Besides that, RTA work teams have made several visits to Singapore to familiarize with its model in constructing & operating rail and tram systems,” noted Al Tayer.

For his part the Singaporean Consul-General in Dubai commended the sweeping development drive witnessed by the Dubai Emirate in a record time, rendering it a focal point of investors, business leaders and tourists, thanks to the wise leadership & shrewd vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He also praised the Dubai Metro Project which had become an iconic landmark of Dubai city, and brought about a quantum leap in mass transit systems of the region, not to mention its contribution to alleviating the traffic congestion.
