DUBAI METRO 2024

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has almost completed the sale of its sponsorship programme for the 59th World Congress & Exhibition of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), a global industry event for the international transport community, taking place in Dubai from April 10-14.

Saudi Minister of Transport Dr. Jubarah Eid Al-Suraysiri announced that 4 train passenger stations at a cost of over SR 9 billion ($ 2.4 billion) will be built for Al-Haramain High Speed Train, taking two and a half years to complete.

“RTA environmental efforts have been culminated in obtaining the ISO 14001 certificate, and therefore it is imperative to implement the international specifications and standards set out by the Certificate in conserving the environment, and introducing clear work procedures of how to tackle the negative impacts of the Sector’s programs and projects on the environment with the aim of curtailing them.

Under the auspices of HH Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will be holding a series of educative events about safe driving targeting motor-cyclists under the initiative launched by HH under the theme “Desert without Bloodshed”.

Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) is gearing up to host the 59th UITP World Congress and Exhibition entitled "Boosting Public Transport: Action!". The global industry event will promote, discuss and debate the International Organization for Public Transport's (UITP) strategy of doubling public transport market share worldwide by 2025.

The Executive Director of Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector at Al Ain Municipality, Abdullah Hamdan Al Amri, praised the Emergency and Crisis Management System in place at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai and expressed his delight in dealing with the RTA and benefiting from its pioneer Crises Management expertise through implementing the best practices at Al Ain Municipality.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has scooped the Middle East Customer Service Excellence Award in the Government Departments category 2010, for the second straight time. The Award, which was accorded by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, an entity affiliated to Datamatix Group, was received on behalf of the RTA by Yousef Jawad, CEO of Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, during a ceremony held in Al Falak Hall, Burj Al Arab, Dubai in the presence of top executives of public and private entities at the regional and international levels, as well as the diplomatic corp in the region.

Ninety per cent of the work on the Green Line of Dubai Metro has been completed and the second line of the rail network is on schedule to begin its journey from August, a senior RTA official said. At the moment, the work on the Green Line is going according to the plan, said Ramadan Abdullah, Director of Operations at RTA’s Rail Agency told Khaleej Times.

The annual Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships started this year on the 14th of February and will end on the 26th of February. It’s the 19th edition of the event and part of the ATP-World-Tour 500 and the WTA-Tour. The event is started by the women who play from 14.-20. February and after that, the men will play from 21.-26. February. The prize money amounts altogether 4 Million US-Dollar.

As governments across the MENA region continue to invest in infrastructure megaprojects designed to meet the requirements of their increasing populations, the Middle East's tunneling industry is rapidly expanding. With the Dubai Metro, Sharjah Diftah to Shis highway and Al Salam Street Project all completed or nearing completion, it is clear that the UAE is leading the way in this growing industry.
