The stations that are not yet open are Business Bay, First Gulf Bank, Sharaf DG, Nakheel, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Energy Station, Jebel Ali Industrial and Jebel Ali. Only Sharaf DG and Jumeirah Lakes Towers are near residential areas.

Trial runs of the trains on Dubai Metro’s Green Line have started, in preparation for the planned opening of the delayed line next year. Burj Khalifa Dubai station was opened along with the inauguration of the tower. Three more Metro stations opened with total of 21 stations out of 29.

In a statement carried by government news agency WAM, the emirate’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said that passenger numbers had jumped from 1.8 million in October 2009 to 3.3 million last month – a growth rate of 183 percent.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai punched in the first ticket exactly at 9pm, 9 minutes and 9 seconds, marking the official inauguration of the first metro system in the Gulf region.

Shooting for the film began in September 2009. Most of the scenes were shot in the town of Wai in Maharashtra, while a song and some important portions were shot in United Arab Emirates. Portions of the film were also shot in the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi and the Dubai Metro.
