Tabreed announces 50% Jordan stake sale
Tabreed, the Middle East's largest district cooling firm, on Sunday said it sold its 50 percent stake in its Jordanian subsidiary without disclosing the deal's financial terms.
The company provides centralised cooling for projects such as the Dubai Metro and Abu Dhabi's Yas Island.
RTA mulls tie-up with Chinese
The Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA)?is considering co-operation and investment ventures with China Railway, said an RTA statement. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA, recently received a delegation from China Railway, headed by Chairman Kuwang Young.
Dedicated lanes are the way forward
Roads and Transport Authority is planning to introduce almost 5.6 kilometres of bus and taxi lanes in various parts of the city commencing May 15. After studying traffic flows, the RTA has moved on the dedicated lanes.

"The number of fines has reduced as the Metro passengers in Dubai are gradually becoming aware of the dos and don'ts while riding the trains," noted Ramadan Abdullah, Director of the Rail Operations Department at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Metro chief steps down for unknown reasons
Dubai: The Dubai Metro chief Abdul Majid Al Khaja has reportedly resigned from his office for unknown reasons, Gulf News has learnt from reliable sources. "Yes, Al Khaja has tendered his resignation," confirmed a highly-placed source in the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Dubai International posts surge in traffic; new airport hotel opens
In other Dubai Airport news, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Ishraq Gulf Real Estate Holding Co have opened the Holiday Inn Express Dubai Airport. The 381-room hotel is the largest Holiday Inn Express in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and the fourth property to open in Dubai. It is located opposite Terminal 3 and adjacent to the Dubai Metro.

Dubai to get 100 pedestrian bridges by 2012
Dubai will have more than 100 pedestrian bridges within the next two years, Gulf News has learnt. The official said that construction on at least 16 pedestrian bridges is on the cards. There are slight changes in the specifications and the completion time has been extended. The more than 100 pedestrian bridges by 2012 will include 47 metro station bridges when all the Metro stations on the Red and the Green Line open by the end of 2011.
