RTA honors Du for connecting Dubai Metro with WiFi
Du, the integrated telecom service provider, was recently honoured by the Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) for providing Dubai Metro with the world's first-of-its-kind WiFi network. The award was presented during a ceremony awarding the 'Strategic Partners Participating in the Execution of the Dubai Metro Project.'
Dubai's RTA woos US investors for mega-projects
Work stalled on big-ticket projects including Dubai Metro’s Green Line and the Al Sufouh Tram, over complaints of non-payment from contractors. The RTA said in January it would seek funding for nearly a third of its infrastructure schemes over the next five years in a bid to spread the risk and cost of large projects.

"By the end of this year, we will stop accepting eye tests on paper. All eye testing centres in Dubai, about 100 centres, will soon be electronically linked to the RTA to facilitate this initiative," said Ahmad Hashim Behroozian, CEO of the RTA's Licensing Agency.
Free travel on public transport today

Mohammed launches Al Sufouh Tram
Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Eng. Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Board Chairman, Executive Director of Road and Transport Authority (RTA), about the route of Tram, which extends 14.7 km along Al Sufouh Street. 10.7 km will be executed in the first phase at cost Dh4 billion. It will start from Marina district to Emirates Mall.

Following a demand from passengers for Sharjah-bound buses from Dubai, to have halts at areas near Al Mamzar or Al Mulla Plaza, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has said it would plan for a direct route to Sharjah starting from the same areas.
RTA to set up e-link with opticians by year-end
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai will offer an e-link to all opticians in the emirate to dispatch the eye test results online to its database by the end of this year, a senior official told Khaleej Times. The RTA currently has 160 out of its 175 services available online and it aims at improving that number further.
