RTA issues red tickets, daily passes for bus, Metro
A red ticket could now be bought from any outlet and could be used for travelling on all modes of transport in Dubai, RTA announced. The RTA feels the facility would help get more tourists to use public transport modes and help solve a lot of confusion over ticketing.
Pay parking fees through NOL card
THE NOL card used for the Metro and buses has been upgraded and can now be used for water buses and for the payment of parking fees all over Dubai Emirate, a few days before the special groups get a 50 per cent discount on the public transport.

The Dubai Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) will be presenting its strategic plans to integrate the metro with other modes of transport in the city at the 59th World Congress & Exhibition of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), a global industry event for the international transport community, taking place in Dubai from April 10-14.

The Dubai Metro's red line ‘World Trade Centre Station’ serves the exhibition centre, offering maximum convenience to tens of thousands of visitors every day. The route connects the exhibition centre with Dubai International Aiport and all stops throughout the city's sights, malls and hotel districts, including some of the best views of the city! Free parking is available at Rashidiya and Nakheel Harbour (near Ibn Battuta Mall) to encourage park-and-ride.
Qatari Diar rail project chugs on
The 340 kilometers freight railway will run from Ras Laffan to the New Doha port at Mesaieed. The railway will also include a line that will run to the gas processing facilities in Dukhan in the west. When complete, the freight railway will be able to transport 11 million tonnes of cargo a year. The freight and passenger lines will form part of the wider GCC rail network. Doha will have four long-distance stations for these lines that will also be integrated with the Doha Metro.

Metro grows in step with Dubai
Even since the Dubai Metro became part of the essential fabric of the city on 09/09/09, officials at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have made every effort to ensure it meets passengers' needs. Gradually, in an effective and cohesive manner, the officials opened up the stations, making sure the feeder bus network grew along service demands.
