RTA celebrates 39th UAE National Day in style

RTA Customers Council reviews upgrading taxi sector
The Customers Council, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently held its 11th gathering to discuss passenger transport on public taxis with the aim of gathering broader suggestions towards upgrading this vital sector in the Emirate of Dubai. The gathering was attended by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, RTA Board Member, CEO and Customer Council Chairperson, as well as Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of Customer Services; Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, Director of Franchise and Enforcement, Public Transport Agency and Hussain Al Banna, Director of Traffic Dep’t, Traffic & Roads Agency.

The new bridge will link Dubai Healthcare City, Sama Al-Jadaf, and the Culture Village at Bur Dubai, on one side of the Creek, and Dubai Festival City, the Lagoons, International City, and Dubai Design Centre at Deira on the other.
Lahore metro plans in the offing
A diplomat at the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi said that Mr Shahbaz Sharif CM of Punjab province in Pakistan who is leading a top level business delegation to Dubai in December to attract investors to Punjab, will talk to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority for possible partnership on the Metro project.

RTA eyeing more Metro lines, extensions in 2011
“We have so many lines...We have Purple, we have blue, which all will be revisited... to see the feasibility... the whole issue is how to go about it...”, said Adnan Al Hammadi, Chief Executive officer of the Rail Agency of Dubai Road and Transport Authority or RTA, on the sidelines of an Roadex-Railex conference in the capital. The chief executive officer said that “there are planned extensions to the Red Line as well as Green Line, which are being revisited and will be announced in the master plan next year.”
Road and rail exhibition opens in Abu Dhabi today
The UAE has already committed $7.6bn in Dubai on the Metro (red and green lines) and another $3.26bn on several major road projects which is addition to a public-private partnership (PPP) with Italian construction and infrastructure company Salini Costruttori, to overhaul sections of the UAE-Saudi Arabia Highway.

Quashing rumours of further delay in the opening of the Green Line, Abdul Mohsin Ebrahim Younus, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said there would be no further delay as the construction work would be completed in August according to revised plans.
