DUBAI METRO 2024

Dubai has recorded a 38 per cent increase in the number of registered vehicles in the three years from 2006 to 2009, according to the latest statistics, revealed by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) yesterday. The total number of vehicles registered in Dubai has jumped from 740,187 in 2006 to 1,021,880 in 2009.

The CEO of the DTC Abdul Aziz Malik explained the proposed system saying: “The proposed system aims at achieving a 6% improvement in customer satisfaction and mystery shopper results, a 5% improvement in drivers satisfaction rating, a 2% improvement in the rate of traffic accidents per 100,000 in which DTC drivers are involved, an 11% reduction in traffic offences per 100,000 km, a reduction of complaints rate per 100,000 km, and a 2% increase in the average daily revenue.

The Public Transport Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) announced that it will carry out a series of positive changes & rescheduling of its services across Dubai from the beginning up to the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The move aims at providing better services to commuters of public buses during this period and enabling them smooth and speedy access to their intended destinations.

The Dubai Metro project has cut energy consumption on the network by 25 percent. The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has revealed that savings in electricity costs of around five million dollars have been made due to innovations on the rail network. According to the authority, power has been saved through the architectural design of metro stations, allowing more natural light into the stations.

The Crises & Disasters Management System set for the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) aims at safeguarding lives, properties, environment and revenues as well as roads & transportation systems against the negative effects of crises and accidents with the aim of minimizing the downtime and other consequential losses and disasters, according to Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim Younes, CEO of RTA Strategy & Corporate Governance Sector.

It was confirmed by Abdul Rida Abu Al Hassan, Acting CEO of the Rail Agency, The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), that the number of Emirati employees working at Serco, the Dubai Metro Operator, currently tops 127 employees; which is 11% of the total workforce employed in the metro management & operation by the said Co. "The percentage of the UAE citizens employed at top management positions in Serco is as high as 40%, and the percentage of those employed in intermediate management positions is 28%.

Metro commuters travelling on Emirates Airline flights can now check in 24 hours in advance at kiosks in three stations as the carrier extends services available at Dubai International Airport. Kiosks have been installed at the Mall of the Emirates, Burj Khalifa and Financial Centre stations. The self-service devices are expected to provide an added convenience and to reduce waiting time at the airport, Emirates officials said. Passengers will need their reservation code or ticket number to use the service, which will be available until two hours before departure.

Passengers flying on Emirates now have more options for check-in when they travel, with the introduction of Self-service, Check-in Kiosks at three Dubai Metro stations. Emirates' customers can now enjoy the convenience of accessing their boarding pass and travel directly to Emirates Terminal 3 on the metro at Terminal 3 station, using the Self-service, Check-in Kiosks located at Mall of the Emirates, Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall and Financial Centre metro stations on the Red line.
