The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently completed all works of Murdiff Interchange with the opening of all remaining works in the project which included the opening of a right traffic lane inbound from Abu Dhabi / Jebel Ali outbound to Murdiff, a tunnel and upper roads, and a right traffic lane in the direction of Murdiff City Center.

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) revealed that public buses have commuted about 56 million passengers in the first half of this year and it is forecasted that the total number of public bus commuters would hit 119 million passengers by the end of the current year.

Salman Khan’s Eid release, Dabangg, is the first film to be shot in the Dubai Metro. The shoot was planned for a Friday since that’s the Emirate’s official holiday and trains don’t start before 1 pm. “But the shooting spilled over by an hour,” says director Abhinav Kashyap. “And since there are only two tracks, the trains lined up behind ours were held up and the station was out-of-bounds till 2 pm.”

Al Mansouri said ongoing projects had placed Dubai at the top of international business destinations.

The latest figures released by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) yesterday showed that some 119 million passengers were expected to use public buses by the end of this year. Almost the same number of public bus passengers was recorded last year. However, the RTA said the public bus service had improved in terms of punctuality. About 62 per cent of buses were on time so far this year, up from 17 per cent in 2008.

“Public bus service operational indicators reveal that in the first half of the year, bus commuters increased to about 56 million transported in 1.8 million journeys, of which 44 million used ‘urban transport’, buses operating in over 80 domestic routes covering the various districts and towns of Dubai. About seven million used inter-city buses operating in over 13 routes covering the main cities across the emirates.

The signalling and safety systems for the long- awaited Green Line of Dubai Metro are now being tested as part of a trial run. A Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) spokesman said: "We have completed the train tracks on the Green Line and are doing trial runs with empty trains to test the line." He said the contractors were now focused on finishing stations on the line, and that work was proceeding at a good pace.

Firstly, there is a problem with the way bus stop locations have been planned. Due to the construction of the Dubai Metro, bus stops have been moved around and there are [hardly any] pedestrian crossings for people to get to the opposite side. If people get off the bus on the Creek side, near the consulate buildings, they will need to cross the road to reach the bus stop that goes toward Karama.

"The message we are getting loud and clear from everyone who is doing stereo 3D, is that it is vital to get as much right as possible on the shoot," says Nunney. "Fixing things in post is really not a practical proposition - the costs are too large. You must get the basics - black level, gain for example - right on location, and they have to be perfectly matched between the two cameras in a pair. That means you need a tool like the Hamlet VidScope 3D, that lets you measure these parameters independently but also compare them directly, so you can quickly but very accurately ensure the perfect match."
